30 May International ‘’No Barriers’’ Day in Helena Modrzejewska Theatre in Legnica

Friends of Helena Modrzejewska Theatre and Helena Modrzejewska Theatre in Legnica invite you to inspiring events ‘’without barriers’, which will take place on the 30th May 2016:

16.00 – 17.30 an audiovisual opening of arts of Lucyna Pawlak ‘’Reaching without barriers – the mixing of paintings with technology and fun and an official premiere of a new version of app ”(Lu) Art Puzzle”. Live music by Mateusz Pawlak in the Theatre’s foyer.

18.00 – 19.30 Meeting with Ella Vine, political, community and Polish diaspora activist in the UK. The conversation will be led in Cafe Modjeska by Krystyna Zajko-Minkiewicz, chair of the Friends of Helena Modrzejewska Theatre.

Lucyna Pawlak – a painter, visual and ceramic artist, for whom there are no barriers in joining various artistic methods. She joins metal arts with other techniques, creating daily use items and decorations. Lucyna teaches arts to children and adults. In collaboration with Jaromir Kopp she created artistic puzzles ”(Lu) Art Puzzle” and made it available as an app. She has also released first Polish fairly tales for children for iPhone and iPad: ”Adventure with a deer” and ”The Sun”. Lucyna loves dogs – she has four of them. She is an author of over 1,300 oil paintings, watercolours and hundreds of daily use items made from ceramic and other materials. During the event there also will be a presentation of a part of abstract mini-works series ‘’Reachings’’, which are transferred into the accessible world of technology and leisure.

Ella Vine – three times Polish junior chess champion, from Legnica, who lives near London for the past 9 years, political and community activist, social worker and political scientist, CEO of a British fibromyalgia charity, board member and secretary of European Network of Fibromyalgia Associations, Polish diaspora activist in the UK, founder and former chair of Help for Poles in the UK Foundation, plus size model for leading British plus size brand Scarlett & Jo, luxury lingerie designer. During the meeting Ella will tell us about breaking various barriers: the invisible disability barrier, the fear and uncertainty barriers when fighting for important things, courage, tolerance, understanding of other person, positive thinking and the need to deploy those character traits in daily live.
